Guidelines for Child Care Professional Reimbursement Program

Purpose of the Program: Tuition reimbursement is offered by the Maryland Child Care Education Foundation (MCCEF), a 501(c)(3) organization, to individuals employed by licensed child care centers in the field of early learning and child care to further the quality of professionalism through participation in certified training opportunities, workshops, conference registrations, 90-hour courses and college credits.

Funding for the program is provided through the generosity of the owners of member centers, individual contributions, and MCCEF fundraising activities held at the Maryland State Child Care Association’s annual conferences.

Basic Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements, both at the time of application and at the time the tuition reimbursement is awarded:

  • The applicant must be currently employed in the field of child care;

  • The applicant must demonstrate an intention to continue his/her employment in the field;

  • The reimbursement must be specifically related to professional training or education in the field, such as continued training, workshops, conference registrations, 90-hour courses, or college courses;
  • The center that employs the applicant must be a licensed child care provider in good standing with the Maryland State Department of Education, Office of Child Care and must supply proof that it is a member in good standing in a recognized trade association active in Maryland.

  • Course work/training completion must occur 1-year prior to the application date.

Selection

 The MCCEF Selection Committee will grant tuition reimbursement according to established MCCEF guidelines and in accordance with the funds available for tuition reimbursement and the number of eligible applicants.  Applicants are not entitled to receive reimbursement simply because they meet the Basic Eligibility Criteria.

Tuition Reimbursement Amounts

The MCCEF Board will consider applications twice each year: January 15th and July 15th.  Tuition reimbursement awards will be announced February 15th and August 15th.  Consideration will be based upon the receipt of all information outlined and required on the Application Form.  Applicants are eligible to apply in both January and July of each year.
