MSCCA ‘Conference by the Sea’ – April 25-27, 2008
~ Events Schedule ~
Please take a minute to review the following event and activity options that are available to your during this years conference! These activities do NOT require pre-registration – except for those who plan to join in the Saturday night “SEACRETS” Jamaica, USA Party (which was listed on your registration form for you to check) if you plan to participate! Remember, you must be 21 years of age to attend that off-site event!
In keeping with T.E.A.M. Spirit, we are planning a TEAM CHEER contest!
Get your center TEAM together and create a ‘cheer’ to perform at our dinner on Saturday evening! Prizes will be awarded! Just enter the name of your TEAM on the form at the MSCCA Registration Desk when you arrive!
Friday Evening – April 25th
- The MSCCA Exhibit area will open from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and the Opening Reception will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Carousel Hotel Atrium area.
- The Maryland Child Care Education Foundation’s ‘BINGO’ party begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Carousel Ballroom! You can register at the door for $10.00 (cash, check or credit cards accepted)! MCCEF has a great collection of PRIZES to make this event a great success! Be sure to join in support of the MCCEF Scholarship Fund!
Saturday Evening – April 26th
On Saturday evening, the following activities are planned. You may attend any/all events at the Carousel that you choose – however, you MUST bring your MSCCA Conference ID badge for admission!
- Pool Party: The Carousel pool will be open for everyone from 8:00 pm until 10:00 pm; however, it will be open from 10:00-11:00 for MSCCA guests only. Music and pool games will be available with prizes for the winners!
- Ice Skating: The ice rink will be open from 8:00 until 11:00 – but open for MSCCA guests ONLY from 10-11:00 p.m.
- Party & Game Room: A room will be open for MSCCA members from 8:00 until 11:00 p.m. and a flat-screen TV and DVD will be available for those who want to watch movies (bring your favorite to share)! Soft drinks, water, coffee and snacks will be provided for all MSCCA guests – and board games will also be available. The game room will be open for those who want to play video games!
SEACRETS, Jamaica, USA Party:
MSCCA will provide round-trip transportation for guests wishing
to attend the SEACRETS dance party. The
bus will leave the
Carousel Hotel at 8:45 pm and will depart SEACRETS at 1:45 am. If you prefer to leave before the return trip scheduled
at 1:45a.m. , you must provide
your own private/public (bus or taxi) transportation. A private space for MSCCA
has been reserved for our party! There
will be no cover charge and one free
beverage will be provided!
YOU MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE TO PARTICIPATE!
Our theme for this year’s ‘Conference by the Sea’ is “T.E.A.M.:
Together Everyone Achieves More” and in keeping with this theme, we
have put together a variety of classes to choose from that will help in
maintaining your Maryland State Child Care Credential and meeting the new MSDE
regulations coming out in June.
We’ve also brought in a national Keynote speaker, Mr. John Irvin, who has received rave reviews for his presentation from the Oklahoma, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota Child Care Associations! His program focus is “humorous, uplifting, entertaining, and inspiring”! We’ve also listened to your comments from last year…and “yes”….Kori Wilson will be with us on Saturday and Sunday!
There will be a 50/50 Raffle held to benefit future entertainment options planned by MSCCA!
The winner will be chosen at 8:00 pm during the dinner – and you MUST be present to win!
The MSCCA Professional Development Committee has taken special measures to assure you a fun-filled, educational and comfortable experience at the Carousel this year!
Maryland Child Care Education Foundation
- We’ll have special giveaways, and the MCCEF Raffles for all to participate in! The auction will be different from past years: each of the items up for auction will be
displayed and you can buy raffle tickets 1 for $1., 6 for $5. and 12 for $10.
- The item will have a corresponding ‘bag’ behind them and you can drop your ticket in any bag that you choose. So, if you want to have a lot of chances for a particular item,drop all your tickets in one bag – or, if you want to spread out your chances, drop themin various bags! The winners of the MCCEF Raffles will be announced at 1:45 onSaturday afternoon – and the winner MUST be present!
